Access to the Internet
There are really only two ways to get on the Internet and see the mass of information available - unless you wish to incur the wrath of your employers by using the office computer and thereby wasting their time and money. Either you must visit a cyber cafe, which are located in most of our major cities, and pay to use their equipment, or you must have suitable computer facilities at home. The minimum requirements are a 486 computer with a 14,400 bps modem and an account with an Internet Access Provider (IAP) who will supply the basic software needed usually free of charge. As with everything else in life the biggest and most powerful computers coupled to the fastest modems get the most out of the Internet.
Please be tolerant with the Internet; whilst it is not in its infancy (it is actually over 25 years old) some of the providers (IAPs) and some of the people using it (the surfers) haven't caught up with the latest technology and don't all have fully compatible systems - so things can be a bit slow or a bit mystifying.
At Crofter we do not provide access facilities but we can recommend those which are reasonably priced and also, and perhaps more importantly, provide full and proper technical support at the times you are most likely to be using the Internet. Once you have the right equipment and paid your monthly access fee you will be able to surf the Internet, send and receive email and possibly be able to design your own very simple page located on some free web space.
