Your Corporate Identity on the Internet

Your corporate identity tells the world at first glance who or what you are and, as we all know, first impressions are the most important and lasting ones.  Your company name will either say who you are, for example Marks and Spencer which for millions of us is a name which implies good quality goods at reasonable prices, or what you are like, for example Mothercare which implies everything for the new mother and her baby, or Helpful Holidays which says exactly what the company offers in the way of service.  With few exceptions a company number is pretty meaningless and difficult to memorise, so how does the computer overcome this problem?

On the Internet your identity is given by a domain name and can be attached to your electronic mail (email) address or to your location (URL) address on the Worldwide Web or, better still, to both addresses.  As with company names your domain name must be registered with the appropriate body to ensure it remains unique and it must be registered on the Internet system, replacing the number by which your computer is recognised, both of which entail an annual fee.

Our corporate identity is Crofter Internet Ltd and the name implies an amalgamation of a small hard working cottage industry with the latest technological innovation of the Internet.  In cyber-speak our uniform resource locater (URL) is www.crofter.com which says we are on the World Wide Web (www), the name we want to be remembered by is Crofter and we are an international commercial (.com) company.  Our email address is sales@crofter.com; the word sales gives you a clue as to which department of our company you are sending your message to.

Of course this is only the beginning - together with your name the world must find out what you have to offer in the way of products or services.  So after we have secured your domain name we need to help you design your new innovative Internet company brochure or, in cyber-speak, your own web site.
